Watson and his team have lead Fonterra’s advance into healthy ageing, establishing a solid base of global consumer research to provide in-depth understanding of the needs of healthy agers, before commencing development of targeted nutritional solutions with Fonterra’s Research & Development Centre – the largest dairy research centre in the world. Prior to joining Fonterra in 2011, Watson had been in Sales and Marketing roles within the healthcare industry most recently as Regional Marketing Director, Asia Pacific Region for the Diabetes franchise of MSD (Merck & Co. Inc).

  • Dr Wim J. M. Engels is senior project manager and scientist in the Flavour & Texture division of NIZO food research in the Netherlands. He is specialized in food fermentations and flavour formation processes in dairy foods. Dr. Engels has over 20 years of experience in food (bio)chemistry, microbiology and analytics. His current research is focused on various aspects of microbial flavour forming processes and on analysis and tailoring of flavours and off-flavours for improvement of fermented foods. Wim’s PhD work at the Wageningen Agricultural University focused on formation of flavour compounds in ripened cheese.

  • Eva Düsterhöft, PhD, is Senior Project Manager at NIZO food research, which she joined in 1998. Trained as food technologist with a focus on biochemistry, enzymology/fermented foods, and after a start of her career in R&D in pet food and bakery ingredients industry, at NIZO she moved into the dairy area and became an inspired (prize-winning) cheese expert. She leads large multidisciplinary contract research projects, in bilateral setting or multi-client consortia. The main focus of her work is cheese technology and – functionality, and the relation between rawmaterials, ingredients and processing with the sensory, physical and biochemical properties of cheese.

    Holding a Masters degree in Economics from the University of Poznan, Poland, Ewa has also studied postgraduate Marketing at the University of Westminster in London.
